About Brushing ASMR
Brushing comes in a few flavors. There are object sounds, like a stiff brush on a wooden box or a soft one across a fluffy pillow. There's face brushing, where the creator sweeps a brush toward the lens as if over your cheeks. And there's lens brushing, which adds a visual trigger as bristles cover the screen.
Because it's so soft, brushing is a common choice for sleep and for people who find tapping too sharp. When the brushes go directly on the microphone, the sound changes a lot; that has its own category, mic brushing. Watch at least one lens brushing video with your eyes open, since the visual is half the point.

Questions
What's the difference between brushing and mic brushing?
In brushing, the bristles touch objects or the lens. In mic brushing they go directly on the microphone, which sounds louder, fuller and closer.
What kind of brushes are used in brushing ASMR?
Mostly makeup brushes, paintbrushes and hairbrushes. Fluffy brushes sound soft and airy; stiff bristles sound crisper.
